The mechanism is intended for producing energy by using the energy stored in pressurised water. It comprises a water-filled receptacle and a vertically arranged endless conveyor belt carrying a number of hollow bodies. The leading section of the belt is made to rise as a result of the bodies in the trailing section receiving the force of an upwardly directed water jet. It rises up through an aperture in the bottom of the receptacle and the energy transmitted at least equals the potential energy of the water in the receptacle. The return section of the belt is arranged outside the receptacle.
