<p>The voltage conversion circuit employs two switches. One (S1) is in series with the input (U1) and the other (S2) in quadrature across the output (U2). The controller operates the second switch (S2) at a constant mark/space ratio, whilst the first (S1) can have its operating ratio changed to the extent that the output voltage can be varied from below to above the input value. The circuit contains virtually no phase shift and is therefore easily controlled and stable. It also operates only at the current demanded by the output side load, in contrast to existing circuits where the internal current through the choke (L) is constant. The circuit is thus also more efficient.</p> |
