The spanner is for releasing the wheel nuts of cars, and can be equipped with one or more worm drives. It can have a register bar (f) with the gear train (a) mounted on it, the bar being adjustable to fit nuts on different pitch circles. It can also be actuated by a torque spanner when tightening nuts up, or hydraulically. The torque drive unit is ideal for incorporation in the standard tool kit, and involves little effort even when freeing nuts which are rusted up. It can be used with conventional socket spanners.
