<p>The automatic driving control uses signals sent out from a vehicle and reflected off the vehicle in front to generate spacing and rate of approach signals. These are processed to operate warnings, or to apply the brakes, when danger levels are reached. In order to ensure sufficient reflected signals, special reflective areas are provided on each vehicle, directed rearwards. These areas are best provided on or around the external driving mirrors, and on or around the rear light clusters. Both these sites are usually kept clean by drivers, as opposed to body panels which can get soiled.</p> |
