A tunnelling machine, consisting of a cutting head (3) and a drive unit (4), and a conveyor (2) for removing the material as well as a shield-advancing device consisting of pushing cylinders (5) and a thrust ring (6) are accommodated in the tunnelling shield (1). An erector (8) consisting of expandable jaws and a chain hoist is arranged in the shield tail (7) for the rapid and trouble-free shifting of the tubbing (9) forming the tunnel lining. The erector (8) is fastened to an erector arm (15) arranged in a cantilevered manner on the shield casing. The tubbing (9) is raised by the chain hoist of the erector (8); to insert a keystone in the tunnel invert, the erector (8) is lifted while its sliding jaws expand.
