The transformer consists of a first shaft with a ring attached to its end and a second shaft parallel to the first. The ring's hole forms the core's hole. The transformer (1) is capsulated by a liquid. The shafts (5, 7) are hollow to make inlet and outlet channels for the insulating cooling liquid and have semicircular cross-sections. The inlet and outlet channels join one another through the hollow ring (6). The two shafts have different electrical resistances. The advantage lies in allowing high current loading with adequate heat removal whilst preserving a simple construction.
