The switch circuit is intended for energising the relay (3) controlling an electric fuel pump in a unit comprising an engine ignition coil, particularly for a motor vehicle. The relay is energised in response to the occurrence of ignition pulses. The relay energising circuit may comprise a timing element (12,13,14) responding to the ignition pulses, which element produces a signal energising the relay for a period which is shorter than the interval between successive ignition pulses at the lowest engine speed, but longer than that interval at normal running speed.
