Apparatus for scoring sheet glass comprises an upstream conveyer 51 and a downstream conveyer 6 each having a plurality of endless belts 11, 14, drive means 15 for the upstream conveyer, a scoring device 25 mounted on a gantry 2 located between and transverse to the conveyers 5, 6, a retractable stop 34 for registering the arrival of a glass sheet, means such as a clutch 37 for disconnecting the drive means and positioning means co-operating with endless belts 11 to move a sheet of glass through a predetermined distance in the conveying direction. The positioning means comprise a plurality of suction cups 38 each engageable with the lower face of the bottom course of a belt 11 movable in a direction opposite to the conveying direction by means of a set of jacks 44 each jack comprising a body and a jack rod having a predetermined stroke length, the set being connected to a fixed post 46 and a member 40 on which the cups 38 are mounted. The clutch 37 is actuated by contactors mounted on the stop 34.</p> |
