Isolation of kallikrein-trypsin inhibitor - by adsorption on magnesium aluminium silicate

Isolation of enriched kallikrein-trypsin inhibitor (KTI) from KTI solns. contg. impurities is carried out by absorbing the soln. of a Mg Al silicate at pH 5-10. The adsorbent is then washed and the KTI is desorbed at pH 6-9 by increasing the ionic strength. KTI is used in the treatment of shock and prophylaxis of post-operative and post-traumatic complications. Process is simple and gives products with an activity of 6000-6800 KIU mg. in yields of 60-100%.
