The continuous length-adjustable rod forms a key for the concealed valves of domestic supply or mains pipes. The lower-working end has a head with a square aperture to engage with the valve actuating spindle. The upper, operating end carries a square tang for engagement with a sleeve spanner, and the intermediate telescopic rod consists of a tube with a displaceable rod, which may be fixed relative to the tube at the desired length. The upper end has clamp jaws pointing along the tube, which may be expanded against the rod (18) at right angles to the tube. A clamping sleeve with internal compression surfaces can be moved along the rod, and may be clamped over the outer surfaces (33) of the jaws.
