The electrode is attached to the core of an electromagnet and contacts the wires when the sheath is inserted through a front opening in the tool housing. A guide ring for the sheath is electrically connected through a protective resistance to the electrode and the positive pole of a voltage supply. The other end of the thermocouple wires is connected to the negative pole, current passing between the poles via the coil of the electromagnet and the welding electrode and thermocouple wires in series with it. Junctions can now be automatically welded inside sheaths of as litle as 0.5mm. dia. The time required is reduced to a minimum and a high rate of scrap is eliminated, because the sheath is at the same potential as the electrode.
|
