摘要 <p>The acoustic direction finder for underwater detection systems uses four pressure sensors, each having a spherical polar response. The detectors are placed at the corners of a tetrahedron. The output signals of the detectors are combined in a linear fashion to produce a dipole type directional characteristic. So that the direction finding device is independent of the position of the vessel on which it is mounted e.g. submarine, a vertical reference plane is provided by a universally-mounted pendulum or other device. The output signal from the combining matrix is normalised by the summed signals of all the detectors. This produces a directional signal which is independent of the intensity of the source.</p>
