<p>A roller conveyor has load carrying rollers (1) which are driven by an endless friction belt (2). The drive belt (2) runs along the top side of the rollers (1), located at the roller ends. To produce the required contact pressure between drive belt and load rollers, a linear cage for circulating steel balls (4) is provided. The weight of the steel balls (4) or discs, forces the moving drive belt against the load rollers, so that the resulting belt tension and contact pressure transmits the drive torque. By regulating the belt tension with a jockey pulley (8), the drive torque can be adjusted to match load carried by the rollers (1).</p> |
