The barrier includes a slit 42 which is opened either by direct pressure from the syringe or by flexure of walls 21, 24 due to syringe insertion into end recess 36. In a first modification the slit is provided in the cross bar of an H-shaped insert in recess 36. The catheter receiving recess 26 may take various configurations and can be corrugated. The slit 42 shown may be retained even if a slit insert is used. In this case the slit 42 is opened by the catheter. |
