<p>1477802 Coated dispersable polyolefin fibres MONTEDISON SpA 7 Jan 1975 [11 Jan 1974] 524/75 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and D1] Polyolefin fibres, suitable for making synthetic paper, are rendered water dispersible by coating them with a condensate of polyvinyl alcohol and a C 1-6 aliphatic aldehyde, containing 2 to 8 aldehyde residues per 100 vinyl alcohol units, the coating being applied by immersing the fibres in an aqueous solution of the condensate. In Examples (1, 3) polypropylene fibres are coated with polyvinyl alcohol/ butyraldehyde, (2) polypropylene fibres are coated with polyvinyl alcohol/butyraldehyde and (4) polyethylene fibres are coated with polyvinyl alcohol/butyraldehyde. Other condensable aldehydes mentioned are formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, alcohol, or mixtures of one or more of the above, or butyraldehyde or propionaldehyde.</p> |
