<p>1478120 Quaternary ammonium salts HOECHST AG 8 July 1974 [13 July 1973] 30142/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division D1] Novel quaternary ammonium salts, suitable for imparting anti-static properties and improving the handle of textile fibres, have the formula where R is a C 6 -C 16 alkyl group, R<SP>1</SP> are the same or different C 1-4 alkyl groups, and x is 1, 2 or 3, n is 2 or 3 and may be the same or different when x is 2 or 2 and X is a monovalent anion or 1/m of an m-valent anion. Preferably X is a halide, arylsulphonate or alkylsulphate ion. The compounds are prepared by reacting an epoxide of formula with a polyalkylene polyamine of formula and subsequently reacting the product obtained with a quaternising agent of formula R<SP>1</SP>-X.</p> |
