The plate may have a non-porous peripheral portion 5, and may be flat, curved or convex. In modifications there may be corresponding recesses also on the inner surface; the recessed surface may be covered by a non-porous sheet having perforations corresponding to the recesses; the recesses may have non-porous rings round their edges or may be extended by non-porous sleeves; a perforated distribution plate may be spaced above the outer surface; and/or the recesses may be branched (see Figs. 3-9, not shown). The diffuser may also be embodied as a cylinder having radial recesses, or parallel recesses in the upper half only (Figs. 10-12, not shown).</p> |
