<p>Magnesium alloys are treated in a hydrogen atmosphere containing water vapor at an elevated temperature to enable hydrogen to diffuse into the alloy surface, the proportion of water vapor in the atmosphere being reduced during exposure. The alloy may be treated with chromic acid before exposure to increase the degree of penetration.</p> |
