<p>Method for protecting the surfaces of profiled thermoplastic door or window frames against scratching is carried out by applying a self-adhesive plastic protective film to the visible surface of the profile immediately after extrusion, and working the profile together with the protective film to form closed frames, by sawing the profiles to length, welding them at the corners or joints, and removing the ridge. The protective film is pref. a thin film of hard PVC for a profile with a covering layer of polymethyl methacrylate or copolymer thereof. Along the slot in the protective film where the ridge has been removed, the weld seam at the corner or joint may be coated with lacquer, etc. The method provides protection against mechanical damage and chemical corrosion.</p> |
