1,212,724. Dispensing liquids under gaseous pressure. PITTWAY CORP. [trading as SEAQUIST VALVE CO.] June 21, 1968 [July 6, 1967], No.29684/68. Heading F1R. [Also in Division F2] A discharge valve for a pressurized aerosol dispensing container comprises a valve member 16 spring-loaded into sealing engagement with a sealing gasket 20, and unseated by tilting or axial movement of a valve stem 14 engaging a recess in the valve member. In Fig. 4, the inner end of valve stem 14 is conical and engages a frusto-conical recess in valve member 16. A ledge 72 is provided in the recess for engagement by the end of the valve stem when fully tilted, so that the valve is held open, Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown). In Fig. 1 (not shown), ledge 72 is omitted, and the cone on the end of the valve stem is of smaller angle than that of the recess, the clearance providing a swirl and expansion chamber action. In Fig. 13, valve member 16 is reversible with corresponding top and bottom recesses. Valve stem 14 has an insert 145 providing a disc portion 146 engaging recess 142. In Figs. 7 to 10 (not shown), disc portion 146 is integral with the valve stem with various arrangements of orifices and grooves between the valve member and valve stem, the Fig. 7 embodiment being operable only by tilting. |
