The press frame (1) has an eccentric shaft (2) with flywheel (3) mounted inside it. A flange (11) is mounted on the frame, and the plate coupling/brake combination (4) ismounted from supports (5) between the flange and the flywheel, and is operated by a pneumatic cylinder (6). The safety brake consists of an arcuate stop (7) which can be angularly displaced. This stop has a protrusion (10). A counters top, which is also arcuate, is mounted on the pneumatic cylinder. A spring loaded pin is operated by a pneumatic cylinder (14). When the air in the cylinder is released, the pin is pushed by the spring into the path of the stop and the coupling is released. At the same time, the brake is operated and the accentric shaft is stopped.
