The constant current is applied during the first part of the charging process and the first phase is ended when a specified voltage is reached. This voltage is such that 70 to 90% of the nominal capacity is charged. After the first phase a pause of a specified length is applied. Then the battery is charged by pulses of the same intensity until the specified voltage is again reached. The charging pulse keying ratio is such, that 10 to 30% of nominal capacity is charged in 24 hours.
