The A/D converter avoids coding errors that cause the loss of small items of analog input information by using a comparison reference midway between the two limits of the analog signal. The converter consists of three stages each with a comparison circuit and a transfer circuit for passing the analog signal to the next stage. Each comparison circuit comprises two comparators that compare the analog signal with two different reference voltages both lying between the input signal limits. The transfer circuits have discontinuous voltage characteristics at the two reference points. |
