<p>The bell or tube forms the housing for the vacuum generator wheel. The opening of the housing is always under the water level in the surrounding through. There is an inlet for steam or water vapour, which is located above water level, and an outlet for the air which is displaced by the water vapour. After condensation of the steam the housing is filled with water. The wheel which is fairly wide has a number of chambers which are connected to atmosphere by a channel. While the wheel is rotated by the rising water, channels in the stationary inner shaft are opened creating an adjustable connection between vacuum and atmosphere.</p> |
