The bridging bearer is for use on powered, or other, railway vehicles with bogie mountings. Continuous length ways bearers each comprise a reinforced stem plate with upper and lower chords welded to it. - The upper and lower chords are made up from rectangular tubes, and the stem plates are offset rearwards in relation to their outside edges. The tubes may be of differing cross-sectional shapes, and may vary in walling thickness along their length. Similar structures may be used for the principal transverse connections.
