1477329 Compositions based on grafted ethylene - propylene rubbers SUMITOMO CHEMICAL CO Ltd 13 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 49093/74 Heading C3G A thermoplastic resin composition comprises a graft copolymer of a rubber component comprising an ethylene-propylene rubber with an aromatic vinyl compound or a graft copolymer of a rubber component comprising an ethylene-propylene rubber with an aromatic vinyl compound and a vinyl cyanide compound; 0À5-10% by weight of a mineral oil having a specific gravity of at least 0À905; and an antixodiant and/or ultra-violet absorber. The ethylene-propylene rubber may be a binary copolymer of ethylene and propylene or an ethylene propylene terpolymer wherein the third component is dicyclopentadiene, ethylidenenorbornene, 1,4-hexadiene, 1,5-hexadiene, 2 - methyl - 1,5 - hexadiene, 1,4 - oycloheptadiene, or 1,5 - cyclooctadiene. The composition may also contain another rubber component, e.g. polybutadiene, polyisoprene or a styrene-butadiene rubber. The mineral oil is suitably a naphthenic or aromatic oil. Examples of suitable antioxidants are phenolic thioether, amine, phosphite and dithio acid salt antioxidants whilst suitable ultra-violet absorbers are salicyclic acid, benzophenones and benzotriazoles. |
