<p>1477116 Mixing apparatus: feeding UPJOHN CO 12 Dec 1975 [21 Feb 1975] 51099/75 Heading B1C A mixing chamber 12 for plastics foam components is supplied by inlet valves 16, 16' each having a pump 24, a supply line 26, 26' a return line 28', 28, a stop-cock 30 in the return line 28, and a by-pass line 34 between the supply and return lines. When the stopcock 30 is open the material can circulate through the by-pass, only a minor part passing through the lines 26', 28' thus reducing the beating effect on the material. When it is closed the material is supplied to the inlet valve both via line 26' and via the by-pass 34 and line 28'. The cross-sections of the lines 26' and 28' are preferably half that of the line 26 so that the supply path cross-section is constant throughout. There may be an adjustable choke 35 in the by-pass 34, and cooling means 32. The mixing chamber 12 may be discharged by a plunger 14 into an injection mould. The lines 26', 28' may be coaxial telescopable flexible tubes. A common by-pass may be used for several inlet valves connected in parallel.</p> |
