1477548 Therapeutic polypeptides CHUGAI SEIYAKU KK 1 July 1975 [1 July 1974] 27765/75 Heading C3H A biologically active substance which is colourless and odourless in appearance, easily soluble in water but hardly soluble in alcohol, acetone and ether, stable at room temperature, has a U.V. spectrum absorption max. at 280 nm., a molecular weight of 1000-3000, a positive colour reaction with unihydrin, frolincircalten and buiret, a negative reaction with anthron, orcinol and Elson-Morgan's fluid, is prepared by chemically combining a fatty acid with an albumin, hydrolysing the resulting modified albumin with a protease, fractionating the resulting hydrolysate, collecting and freezedrying the fraction capable of protecting dinitrophenol dependent adenosine triphosphate activity. The fatty acid may be oleic, linoleic, stearic, palmitic or anachlindomic acids. Examples describe the preparation of such a polypeptide from egg albumin and oleic acid.
