<p>1456911 Propelling elevators S W BUSHNELL 2 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 00098/74 Heading B8L [Also in Division B7] A portable lift comprises a wheeled base including an upwardly projecting first frame 2 on which a second frame 24 is vertically slideable, and along which a load carriage 28 is vertically slideable, an arrangement of winch cable and pulleys being such that upon operation of the winch 38, the carriage 28 is elevated to the top of the second frame 24 before the latter is elevated along the first frame 2. The cable leaving the winch 38 is reeved over a pulley 40 at the top of the first frame 2 under a pulley 42 at the bottom of the second frame 24, over a pulley 44 at the top of the second frame, under a pulley 46 on the carriage 28 and is dead ended to the top of the second frame 24. Load engaging forks 34 are releasably mounted on the carriage 28 so that they may be inverted thereon to achieve extra load height. The base includes wheels 14 at the base of the first frame 2, wheels 18 at the ends of outriggers 16 adjustably extensible from the wheels 14 in the direction of the forks 34, and secondary lateral outriggers 20 mounted on the outriggers 16.</p> |
