1479080 Reinforcement spacers S VIGH 5 Aug 1975 [6 Aug 1974] 32698/75 Heading E1W A reinforcement spacer has a plastics base I with a web 11 and generally triangular supporting wings 10, and a metallic wire rod supporting portion 2 with legs fixed into the base. The portion 2 may be made of mild steel wire and the base 1 of high density polyethylene, polypropylene or nylon. The spacer is preferably made by injection-moulding a thermoplastics base, and inserting the legs of the wire portion 2 into the base after it has been ejected from the mould, but whilst it is still hot. Preferably holes 25 are moulded into the base. Alternatively the plastics can be moulded around the wire legs, with the leg ends preferably initially upset at 26. The wire legs can alternatively be inserted into the cast base after cooling, and be retained by glue. Fixing tabs 16, preferably apertured may also be provided.
|
