PURPOSE:To produce a solid polyelectrolyte having a high ionic conductivity by dissolving a dissociable salt in a solvent showing compatibility with or swelling action to polyvinylidene fluoride and dispersing the resulting soln. in polyvinylidene fluoride to thereby form a solid soln. CONSTITUTION:A dissociable salt (e.g. LiClO4) is dissolved in a solvent showing compatibility with or swelling action to polyvinylidene fluoride (e.g. propylene carbonate) and the resulting soln. is added to polyvinylidene fluoride to form a solid soln. A solid polyelectrolyte used in an electrochemical device is thus produced.
