<p>The filler equipment delivers liquid, particularly oil, into packing containers, having a tapered diffuser nozzle extending downwards at an angle determined by the viscosity of the liquid and the interfacial tension between liquid and metal. The nozzle is mounted below a distribution jet and connected to it, and below the nozzle is a liquid drip vessel with a central opening enclosed by a raised edge. During the filling operation the liquid falls vertically in a cylindrical stream through the opening, and on shutting off the remaining drops adhere to the diffuser walls and then fall into the vessel. The conical face of the diffuser (22) is connected to the filler jet (14) by a trough-shaped section (26) followed by a cylindrical one (24). These separate the path of the cylindrical stream from that followed by the remaining drops, and aid the flow of the latter. Flow can be shut off by a valve (16) working against a set on the jet, while the cylindrical and trough sections are part of the diffuser.</p> |
