<p>Quinazol-4-one-2-carboxylates. Cpds. of formula (I): (where R is H, a metal, alkyl or the residue of an organic base; R' is H, halogen, NO2, OH, alkoxy or CF3), particularly cpds. where R' is methoxy and R is an amine residue may be prepd. by reacting an anthranilamide with an oxalate ester, pref. the ethylester, and heating at 100-200 degrees in the presence or absence of a solvent. Alkaline hydrolysis will give (I; R = H).</p> |
