The machine for sorting a consignment of bottles comprises a conveyor between the entry window and discharge point. At the entry window are photosensitive elements detecting the bottle shadow. This information is analysed electronically by comparing it with the contents of a memory storing all the shape and dimension parameters of the bottles the machine accepts. The bottle is then directed either towards the discharge point for consigned bottles, or to stock.
