A hot air drier for textiles, washing etc., is controlled by the degree of wetness. It has a temperature sensor (18) linked to a thermal mechanism (13) that acts on the switch (16, 17) controlling the supply to the heating element. The mechanism is adjustable to set the temperature at which the switch is opened. In one position the switch connects both the heating element and the fan motor to the supply. In the other position it connects only the motor to the supply. The thermal mechanism contains a bellows connected to the sensor and expanding to pivot a lever linked to an arm that operates the switch.
