Grinding wheel for surfacing light workpieces - has annular grinding face with radially projecting raised milling teeth

The grinding wheel with milling cutters is for surfacing workpieces of aluminium or other lightweight material. The wheel may have an annular grinding face (5) which is normal to the axis of wheel (1) rotation, and a radially projecting series of milling teeth (6) or cutters. The cutters (6) are raised relative to the grinding face (5) and trim the surface of the workpiece (3) in advance. Two sets (6, 7) of milling cutters may be incorporated with the second set (7) projecting beyond the first set (6) and further raised relative to the grinding face (5). In this case three strata are removed from the workpiece in one operation, with each strata removed obtg. a progressively refined finish.
