1476857 Sliding clasp fasteners YOSHIDA KOGYO KK 30 Sept 1975 [14 Oct 1974] 39929/75 Heading E2S A sliding clasp fastener comprises a pair of stringer tapes 10, 10' carrying along their opposed inner edges respective rows of continuous coupling elements 12, 12' which are mutually engageable and disengageable by a slider 17 moving therealong, each row of coupling elements being formed with a plurality of scoops each having a head 14 projecting inwardly beyond the inner edge 15 of one of the stringer tapes 10, 10', and a top stop device comprises a pair of stop members 19, 20 of synthetic resin each united with one of the rows of coupling elements so as to cover at least the head regions 14 of several top most scoops thereof, each stop member projecting inwardly beyond the inner edge of one of the stringer tapes substantially to the same extent as the heads 14 of the scoops carried thereby. According to the invention one of the stop members 20 is shorter than the other stop member 19 whereby, upon movement of the slider 17 along the rows of coupling elements to a predetermined topmost position thereon, the scoop immediately underlying the lower end of said one stop member 20 abuts against the inner edge of the other stop member 19. As shown, in a sliding clasp fastener of the concealed type the stop members 19, 20, made e.g. of nylon or polyester, and integrally united by thermal fusion with the respective synthetic resin, coil-type coupling elements 12, 12', are each shaped substantially into the shape of a shallow V to enter the guide channel in the slider 17, Fig. 3, the coupling elements 12, 12' being stitched, at 13, respectively to rearward folds 11, 11' of the tapes 10, 10'. The stop member 19 is longer than the stop member 20 by approximately half a pitch distance between the scoops of each coupling element 12, or 12'. |
