1531023 Form-fill apparatus PAPETERIES DE BELGIQUE 26 March 1976 [27 March 1975] 12398/76 Heading B8C An apparatus for transversely welding and severing a liquid filled tube 1 to produce individual filled containers comprises two series of half-moulds 2, 21 which move downwardly with the tube 1 to shape the latter, and upper and lower welding and severing jaws 17, 171 and 18, 181 which move downwardly with the tube while effecting transverse welding and severing operations, the jaws 17, 171 and 18, 181 operating to weld and sever the tube at respective alternate locations between moulds 2, 21 so that the tube 1 is firstly welded and severed by the upper jaws 17, 171 to produce separated pairs of communicating containers and then the communication between these containers is closed and the containers of the pairs are separated from one another by the lower jaws 18, 181. The halfmoulds 2, 21 which are carried on chains 3, 31 are movable towards and away from one another to adjust the capacity of the containers being produced. The ends of the jaws 17, 171 and 18, 181 are configured to correspond to upper and lower angular parts 14, 141 and 16, 161 of the half-moulds 2, 21 so that the jaws are moved downwardly by engagement between said angular parts.
