A satellite aerial is hinged and rests, prior to reaching the orbit, in the space between the satellite interior and the heat shield (42). To position the aerial rod (43) automatically, after the heat shield has been removed, and to keep the aerial in the extended position, the rod (43) is hinged by a pin (41) to the inner conductor (44) of a coaxial lead which is guided in a dielectric block (50). When the heat shield (42) does not restrain the aerial, a compression spring (46) acts on a sleeve (45) made of insulating material inside the cap (47) and erects the aerial in the vertical position. The dotted lines show how the aerial is fixed in that position. |
