<p>The torque meter for machine tools provides an accurate indication of torque in such tools as machine screwdrivers, nut spinners. The screwdriver shaft outer end runs in bearings in an outer clamping shaft. This shaft is itself fitted with bearings between its inner end and the outer casing of the tool. The shaft is therefore free to rotate with respect to the inner drive shaft and the fixed outer casing. A bar or torsion tube is fixed between the bearing shaft and the casing so that the reaction moment causes twisting of the torsion element. The resulting torque is detected by strain gauge elements fixed to the torsion component. Other forms of pick-up, such as inductive, capacitive or piezo-electric devices may be used. A limit stop prevents overloading of the measuring transducer.</p> |
