<p>The gear testing system comprises an axial drive set and a rotary drive set driven by electric motors. Both drives are coupled via universal joints and gears to the gear box etc. under test. Each drive unit contains linear and angular measurement transducers. Selection of the required positions of the drive units either in an axial or rotary direction for executing different stages of the test, is via relays energised from the operating position. Control current to the drive motors is switched to a control amplifier via potentiometers. A potentiometer mechanically coupled to the motor and also connected to the amplifier completes the servo loop. The amplifier output is connected to a threshold circuit and auxiliary relay contacts for display or remote control purposes.</p> |
