[Also in Division E2] A vehicle headlamp assembly which provides for adjustment of the direction of the optical axis of the headlamp, comprises a lamp unit 15 connected by quick fastening means consisting of a fixed attachment 13 and a resilient coupling 8 to diametrically opposite positions on a supporting frame 3 for fixing to the vehicle body and adjusting means on the unit 15 including screws 25, 32 (not shown) disposed in the central plane of the assembly and operating on adjusting means on the unit to swing the optical axis about two planes at right angles. The attachment 13 has a detent 14 engaging in a slot in a strap 19 on the lamp unit and held in place by a hairpin spring 21. The resilient coupling 8 comprises a spring 10 extending between the head 9 of the coupling-8 and a fork 18 on a strap 17 on the lamp unit. The straps 17, 19 have lever arms 24, 31 pivoted to them, the opposite ends of the arms bearing on the frame 3. Adjustment about vertical and horizontal axes is effected by turning the screws 25 and 32 (not shown) respectively, the ends of the screws being fastened to the levers 24, 31 so as to be capable of rotation and the screws passing through nuts anchored to the straps 17, 19. |
