<p>The beacon buoy is lowered by wave motion. The electrical generator takes the form of a sphere carrying a winding, with a further internal sphere, incorporating an eccentric mass, carrying the field. Wave motion in any direction causes relative motion between spheres, and a current is generated in the winding. The current is used to charge a battery which, in turn, supplies power to the beacon light on the buoy. The electric power supply is environmentally more desirable than gas.</p> |
