1476600 Maleic anhydride LONZA Ltd 30 Dec 1975 [10 Jan 1975] 53131/75 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Maleic anhydride is produced by the oxidation of a saturated or unsaturated C 4 hydrocarbon in the gaseous phase using a mixed oxide oxidation catalyst based on vanadium and pentavalent phosphorus with an atomic ratio of P : V of 1À05-1À10 : 1 and prepared by reacting a salt of tetravalent vanadium with orthophosphoric acid (see Division B1). The hydrocarbon may be n-butane oxidized at 320-500‹ C.
