<p>1476546 Tetrazole derivative ABBOTT LABORATORIES 20 Feb 1975 [1 March 1974] 7226/75 Heading C2C The novel compound, 5-[4-(2-thenoyl)-2,3-di chlorophenoxymethyl]-tetrazole, is prepared by reacting 4 - (2 - thenoyl) - 2,3 - dichlorophenoxyacetonitrile with sodium azide in the presence of aluminium chloride. The nitrile starting material is prepared by reacting thiophene-2- carboxylic acid chloride with 2,3-dichloroanisole to form 4-(2-thenoyl)-2,3-dichloroanisole, heating this with aluminium chloride, pouring the product into water, filtering, dissolving the precipitate in aqueous NaOH and acidifying the solution to obtain 4-(2-thenoyl)-2,3-dichlorophenol and reacting this with chloroacetonitrile. Pharmaceutical compositions useful for the treatment of hypertension, edema and hyperuricemia in forms suitable for oral or parenteral administration, comprise the above novel compound together with a pharmaceutical carrier.</p> |
