1476614 Parting-off tools KENNAMETAL Inc 29 Oct 1975 [1 Nov 1974] 44538/75 Heading B3B A parting and grooving tool comprises a shank type insert holder 10 having a lateral recess 14 at one end in which is securable an insert supporting blade 16 with a groove 28 in its upper edge to receive a replaceable cutting insert 30, a bridge type clamping member 40 is securable at the end of the shank and has a first leg portion 43 which engages in a groove 44 in the holder and a second leg portion 46 which engages in the groove 28 in the support blade 16, the clamping member having a blade like projecting portion 38 which has a resilient hose portion which engages in the transverse slot 32 in an insert 30 in the groove 28. The blade portion 38 is also provided with an abutment surface 36 which engages the rear end of the insert. The clamping member is secured by screw 42 which passes through an elongated slot 52 in the clamp arm which permits longitudinal adjustment of the clamp and insert by screw 54, the hose portion of the clamping member acting as a chip breaker. Various configuration of insert are described and which may have flat, concave or recesses cutting surfaces and which are formed to provide front and side clearance. |
