<p>1443584 Nuclear reactor containments COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE 20 June 1974 [26 June 1973] 27413/74 Heading G6C A fast reactor in which an open-topped pressure vessel 3 containing a liquid metal, e.g. sodium, coolant 2 to a level 4 and an overlayer 5 of an inert gas, e.g. argon, is closed by a closure slab 9, embodies a closure slab comprising a metal sole plate 16 (various materials for which are specified), a concrete overlayer 17 and a system 18 of embedded ducts arranged so that coolant metal vapour condensing on the undersurface of the sole plate 16 forms a solidified metal heat-insulation layer 21. The coolant ducts in layer 17 are connected by metal bridges 19 to the sole plate 16 to the undersurface of which a coarse-mesh mattress 22 is secured to prevent detachment of lumps of sodium. The slab 9 is completed by a layer 20 of protective concrete.</p> |
