Mixt. consists of (1) rubbery hydrocarbons which are crosslinked rather than degraded in the presence of peroxides and which have a vitreous transition temp. below temp. of use and (2) reinforcing or extending, anhydrous and/or organic filters. The hydrocarbons contain cpds. which are grafted onto molecule of basic material and/or added to double bonds of the basic material, and which cause crosslinking of the hydrocarbons when exposed to moisture. Mixt. is used for sheathing elongated articles, e.g. electric cables, conduits, pipes or hoses. Mixt. may also be used for injection-moulding, e.g. electric plugs. Crosslinking is achieved without applying standard vulcanisation steps. In an example, basic material contains 100 pts. thermoplastic rubber, 0.05-0.5 pts. peroxide or peroxide blend 1-3 pts. vinyl trimethoxy-silane, 0.05 pts. dibutyl Sn dilaurate and stabilisers. |
