<p>Composting waste by contact with an oxygen-containing gas, which is known per se, is accelerated when the amount of oxygen which has been consumed in the oxidation reactions is replaced. To this end, pure oxygen or a gas mixture whose oxygen content is greater than the oxygen content of air, is passed into the reaction space. The process is particularly suitable for the treatment of sewage sludge and refuse.</p> |
