Exhaust system for construction industry machinery - has extra silencing which includes perforated plates covered with layer of glass fibre matting

Machinery exhaust system has the main silencer (5) within the engine casing (1), discharging ejector-fashion (6) into an outlet pipe (7). The walls (9) of this pipe are of perforated material with a perforation ratio of at least 35%, as are those of the silencer (5). Also, both are covered with a layer of glass fibre matting (10) inside a thick layer of sound absorbing material (11) - the former protecting the latter against damage from gas pressure waves. Where an upright outlet unit (7-11) would create a visibility problem the unit can be arranged horizontally on the engine casing instead. A short final section of exhaust pipe is then turned upwards, to emerge from the top of the unit.
